Creamy White Wine and Garlic Pasta
Linguine in a creamy white wine and garlic sauce
the BEST in comfort food
My family loves pasta.
When I met my husband, it was all he ever ate. The man can eat an entire pound of pasta himself; not that I allow that anymore.
Even still, if we go out to dinner, you can bet that he will order pasta.
He’s pretty predictable like that.
The kids like it too, except I have one carnivore, and the fussy one, not so much. She’s more of a cheese only kid of gal. If I fed her nothing but mac and cheese for the rest of her like she’d be cool with that.
So when I stumbled on this creamy garlic pasta from Buns in My Oven I just had to try it.
I used wine in place of the chicken stock.
Butter Garlic Wine…the house smelled SO DAMN GOOD
Of course you can use stock, but may I suggest that just once you cook your pasta in wine. You will not be sorry.
{just don’t use a bottle that you would not enjoy drinking; butter and garlic make everything delicious, but bad wine is just bad wine}
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp butter
- 5 cloves of garlic {minced}
- 1 bottle of dry white wine
- 1 lb of linguine or fettuccine {broken in half}
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 6 ounces freshly grated Parmesan
- 1/4 cup of heavy cream
Instructions
- In a large pot melt the butter over medium heat
- add the garlic and saute until it becomes fragrant
- add the wine
- bring to a boil
- add pasta and salt
- cook the pasta according to the package – stirring frequently
- {most of the liquid will absorb}
- DO NOT DRAIN
- once the pasta is cooked, add the cheese and cream
- stir and allow the cheese to melt
- serve with cracked pepper of freshly chopped herbs
- serves 8 – unless you invite my husband
Pasta is comfort food at it’s best.
Enjoy!

Sounds so yummy….and simple to make too!
Thanks! It was, and it is:)
Not being much of a wine expert, what kind of dry white wine do you suggest? Thanks
I used a dry chardonnay – but anything will work as long as it is not sweet like a Riesling.
Looks so yummy! Gorgeous pictures as well. Thanks for the recipe.

thank you, I LOVED this dish.
This looks great!! I need to give this a try this week! Would love for you to come over and link up at my link party http://mommyondemand.com/create-bake-5/
thanks so much for the invite
Just tried this tonight and was disappointed. I used a regular bottle of wine (was about 3 cups or more) and it didn’t even cover the pasta. I ended up moving it to a smaller pot to make the wine deeper, but still not enough. Can you tell me what size bottle you used? ?
I used a regular size bottle of wine – and a medium size pot. If you break the past in half the bottle covers the noodles. Do not boil rapidly as too much will evaporate too quickly – but at the end of the cooking time there should be VERY little liquid.
if ONLY I could eat that little ramekin’s worth of this stuff! Looks delicious! Would love to see you link this up over The Weekly Creative – 6 blogs, a ton of fun!

Thanks for the recipe. Btw, I love the look of your table. Where is it from, or what kind of wood is that? Many thanks
thanks Robin – it is actually a tray made from an old fence
I was desperate for a meal tonight and THIS WAS PERFECT!!!!!! I had to make my own cream (skim milk with butter) but it was simple and I had everything in my pantry! thanks!
so glad you liked it – it is definitely one of our favorites
Hey, This one looks delish, but I am just worried if the pasta will get completely cooked in wine? Or should I make it al-dente and then put it in wine. Thanks in advance ?
the pasta will cook completely, but if your worried, you can add a bit of water to the wine
I just came across your website looking for an easy pasta dish for dinner. I just made this and it was scrumptious. It was very easy and the flavors were great. The only thing I’d add is some fresh rosemary atop ?
sounds delicious thanks!
Very bland. I will rather save the wine to drink.
sorry you were disappointed. we did not find it bland at all, but I suppose that could depend on the wine used

This was easy to make and delicious. I used Chardonnay and added about a quarter cup of water to it. I divided the pasta in half once done and folded lump crabmeat in for my family (I don’t eat seafood). They loved it!!! Thanks for sharing!!
I LOVE adding crab meat – so glad you enjoyed ? thanks so much
