start your fall mornings with these delicious cinnamon roll maple leaf pancakes

I love breakfast, and we take it very seriously around these parts.
If you follow me on instagram, you’ll see that I enjoy making ‘”themed” pancakes. Initials for birthdays, footballs, team initials, pumpkins for Halloween, and now cinnamon roll maple leaf pancakes for fall.

So I was thrilled to be joining with Wholesome Sweeteners in their pancake party.
I’ve been using Wholesome Sweeteners sugars for years, and now they just introduced a new pancake syrup. My kids love it, and I love that it is organic, non-GMO certified, and free of high fructose corn syrup. It doesn’t hurt that is it delicious as well.

To celebrate this new product Wholesome Sweeteners is throwing a pancake party.
Do you have a favorite pancake recipe or get crazy with decorating your breakfast…join the party and you could win. For all the contest details make sure you visit the Wholesome Sweeteners party page.

I love to play along so I created a recipe just for the occasion. Maple leaf shaped pancakes {I am in LOVE with this 1936 Maple Leaf 5-Piece Cookie Cutter Set} with cinnamon roll ribbons for the veins. They’re fun, perfect for fall, and of course yummy! The perfect pancake party food.

Ingredients
- for the pancakes –
- 1 cup of flour
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 2 Tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla
- for the cinnamon ribbons –
- 1/4 cup of butter, softened but not melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- to make the pancakes, pre-heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat – 325 – 350 on an electric griddle
- combine the dry pancake ingredients
- whisk together the milk, egg, butter, and vanilla and pour over the dry ingredients, stir only until everything is combined
- prepare the cinnamon ribbon by mixing the butter with the brown sugar and cinnamon, fill a pastry bag or zip top bag with the filling – if you are using the zip top bag, snip a small corner off the bag to pipe filling
- make sure to butter your pan or griddle if needed, and also butter your cookie cutter
- place the leaf shape cookie cutter on the griddle or pan – add batter (my shape used 1/4 cup batter) pipe the leaf’s “veins” with the cinnamon filling
- once the batter has set a bit, remove the cookie cutter, but do not flip until the top of the pancake is bubbled (about 2 – 3 minutes)
- flip and cook until the bottom is golden brown, another minute or two
- continue with the remaining batter
you could even add icing to these babies, but we love our cinnamon roll pancakes straight up with syrup.
Enjoy!

we love our breakfast
