lasagna bowls
have become my family’s new favorite way to eat lasagna, everyone get’s to make it their way

Those of you that have kids willingly eat anything you serve them, I applaud you.
I must have been absent when that lesson was taught.
I thought I knew what I was doing.
My kids may eat what’s on their plate, but there is a whole ‘lotta whine, and not the good kind.
I don’t make more than one meal, so if they don’t like it, they don’t eat; this changes nothing, especially if dessert isn’t on the table that night. Yes, I’m one of those parents that bribe their kids with dessert.
But I want my kids to eat dinner and actually enjoy what they are eating, so I try to find ways to please everyone. MUCH easier said than done it turns out, but not impossible.
This lasagna bowl is an example.

Stella LOVES lasagna; it is her favorite meal, but she doesn’t like meat, so meat sauce is out. She loves her lasagna with tomatoes, spinach and cheese. Oh, and I should mention that she will only eat homemade noodles. Charlie is exactly the opposite, it has has to have meat; he’d happily leave off the spinach too.
Ian and I are the easy ones, but honestly lasagna is not the easiest meal to prepare, especially on busy weeknights.
Lasagna bowls make lasagna possible even on a tight schedule and everyone get’s to have it their way.
It’s the burrito bowl of pasta, and a new family favorite.
Ingredients
- 1 lb of ground beef or turkey, seasoned and browned

- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
- Parmesan, grated
Instructions

- top with meat, spinach, and sauce

This is brilliant. So much less time consuming, but with all the necessary components!!!
thank you mimi, it really worked well for us
This is a great idea. You have all the flavors and a nice size. I always make too much lasagna. I’d love it if you shared this at What’d You Do This Weekend. It goes love on Monday.
Linda
thank so much Linda! I will
I raised my boys the same way, one meal…take it or leave it and there’s no cereal before you go to bed !
but I have to say… they turned out to be good eaters…they ate any and everything so I count myself lucky. One liked everything and one did not like onions.. so he just gave them to the other one…ok by me. This dish is such a clever idea and it looks yummy ! Love those cheesy enchiladas.
thanks Abby! I have one that will eat most things, one that eats almost nothing unless there’s a dessert dangling above her head ?
I love this idea!!
thanks Dorothy! it helps control the dinner time whine for sure
I adore this – it leaves so much room for everyone’s personal preference on construction and texture. Thank you for the awesome idea!
thanks for us it was SO necessary! too much complaining
First things first… I am loving your new design Heather, it’s so clean and pretty! Second, what a brilliant meal idea! My hubs and I completely disagree on which type of meat to use in lasagna, I need to make this for dinner soon.
thanks so much Emily – I was SO ready for a change
This is seriously the most genius idea I’ve seen in a long time Heather! Totally making these bowls!

Wow, that looks great! We love lasagna, too, but this would be a nice, simple alternative!

Heather, what a great idea! With several kids here too, it’s nice to be able to customize meals ?
especially when you have one that eats almost nothing ? thanks
