i LOVE crinkle cookies, and these Malted Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are no exception, plus they make great gifts!

My parents arrive in just a few days to celebrate Thanksgiving with us here in California. I’m so excited to have them here for the next 10 days. But by the time they leave on the 27th, I’ll be in full blown panic mode.

Stella’s birthday, Christmas, New Years, my MIL’s 80th, and rounded out by Charlie’s 18th birthday on the 8th of January, we have A LOT of celebrating going on. Which means I have a lot of planning and prep going on.
I love this time of year, but at the same time I am not a big fan of the stress that comes at this time of year. I’d love nothing more than to simply curl up on the couch with a fire, a warm drink, some fuzzy slippers, and Christmas movies. My reality is that we are going non-stop ‘til January.
I may not have my cards ready, or my presents purchased. I don’t have wrap, or decorations, or my menu planned for all the parties, but I do have my holiday hostess, teacher, and neighbor gifts figured out. These malted chocolate crinkle cookies are my go-to gift this holiday season. Who doesn’t love a delicious chocolate cookie?

Baking is something I do when I feel stress, so it seemed only natural to put all that baking to good use. I think we all have enough candles, wine, and spa products, not that these wouldn’t be appreciated, but I think home baked goods are a far more personal gift, especially at holiday time. Food really is an expression of love.
I started with my base recipe for chocolate crinkle cookie. It’s a cookie I make ALL the time, and they always bake up perfectly. When gifting, I don’t like to add more stress by using a new-to-me recipe. That never goes well. Crinkles are delicious with a little spice, or some mint, but lately I have been LOVING malted chocolate. One bite of a malted chocolate crinkle cookie and I think you’ll love it too.

Especially when baking for others, I like to use the best ingredients I can afford. All flours are not created equal. Bob’s Red Mill flours [4] are high quality, and really make a difference in the end product. Same with the chocolate. I love using dark chocolate, but use what you prefer; just choose a high quality product (no chocolate chips here, please).
His holiday season make yourself and someone else feel good by sharing something baked with love, like these malted chocolate crinkle cookies, and right now you can save $1 on your favorite Bob’s Red Mill [5] product.
