The baking continues, and this recipe for 30 minute hawaiian sweet rolls may be the best one yet.
Way back when, to a time before I had kids, I had no idea that no matter how hard you tried, your kids could still be fussy eaters. I always thought it was the parents giving in that made fussy eaters. Of course we are all excellent parents before the kids arrive.
My kids were both great eaters as babies, and I was so proud. Fruits, veggies, oatmeal, yogurt. They ate everything with gusto.
And then they grew up, and got opinions, and found they love to share those at the dinner table on the regular. While I don’t make second meals for the complainers, I do like to make meals that everyone enjoys. Most nights that is easier said than done.
Homemade mac and cheese is always a winner. Sometimes they don’t even mind when I load it with roasted veggies. Sometimes. Stella loves taco night when I make these slow cooker refried beans and with our new pizza oven, pizza night has been better than ever.
We’ve also started making sheet pan sandwich melts almost every week. These are a hit with everyone, and that makes this mom really happy. I’m pretty sure it’s the rolls they enjoy the most. How can you not fall in love with soft, hawaiian sweet rolls. They make everything taste amazing, and while the sore bought ones are delicious, homemade hawaiian rolls are even better.
Best part, these hawaiian sweet rolls can be ready in 30 minutes. Start to finish. Seriously, I kid you not. Don’t be afraid of the yeast, these rolls are are fool proof.
I took my recipe for hawaiian bread and my recipe for 30 minute dinner rolls, combined them and got these soft, sweet, amazing hawaiin rolls perfect for making sandwich melts. Of course they are equally as good eaten with butter straight from the oven.

I feel your pain. My daughter was a fantastic eater, especially about vegetables, until she started school and found out she was not suppose to like veggies. Ugh! I am not giving up. She would adore these rolls. She could eat bread or rolls for every single meal.
my kids too, I bribe them with rolls to get htem to eat the veggies
Bookmarking this.. I always buy this from costco.. Now I know the recipe. ? Thanks for the share.
hope you enjoy them! we are hooked
Dear Heather, we’ve all been there. When my kids were younger it was a different story. My son was always had a hearty appetite and still does, my daughter on the other hand was the fussy one and still is. Homemade rolls are always a welcomed treat though and these look splendid! xo, Catherine
my daughter eats almost nothing…hopefully someday she outgrows it ? and thank you
Do I need to knead withdough hook on my stand mixer?
that is what I use, but you can knead by hand also
Hello, beautiful rolls of goodness! I need these in my life!!!! My youngest was such a good eater as a baby…then he grew up and decided to be picky. Right now he is living on ramen…crazy boy!!!!
Stella lives on apple slices and cereal ? and bread when I make it hopefully some day she’ll be a good eater Thanks Jocelyn
Have you tried freezing this recipe? Would you recommend freezing pre or post baking is mostly what I’m curious about. Thanks.
I have not, but would definitely freeze after baking
Do you put the yeast in warm water before mixing?
you can, but because i use platinum red star yeast you do not need to proof the yeast before adding the rest of the ingredients
Wen do you add the yeast?
it is added with the rest of the ingredients (with the flour)
How much is 3 packets of yeast? Is it equal to 2 tablespoons?
each packet is about 2 1/4 teaspoons – so 3 packets is a little more than 2 Tbsp.
Can I use margarine instead of butter?
i personally have not use it, but it should work
Would you be able to make a loaf of bread (or mini-loaves) with this recipe or is the rising time not enough for bread?
I actually was playing with the the past two weeks. I did get a pretty good loaf.
