Some of my very best friends in the world are food bloggers. Some like Dorothy, Amy, Glory, Trish, Karen, and Hayley I am blessed to live near and see often (although not as often as I’d like).
Some like Lisa, Tanya, Holly, Ashley, and Cathy are not as close, but that doesn’t change a thing. They are incredible friends. In person or not, we are there for each other no matter what.
Most of these wonderful ladies I met through Online Blog Con, and that is where I first “met” Joan from Chocolate, Chocolate and More. Joan took a love of baking and chocolate and turned that into a brand and a booming business. But even with all of her success, she took the time to help anyone who asked for it. Trust me, I asked often.
Last week, Joan suffered a heart attack in her sleep and passed away leaving not only her family, but also our blogging community devastated.
To honor Joan and her love of chocolate many of us are posting #chocolateforjoan, and while I am not a huge chocolate lover, I do love brownies and pudding, so I am sharing a recipe of Joan’s for chocolate brownie pudding

and it is SO good! Crispy brownie on top of a gooey pudding center, topped with vanilla ice cream and maybe even some fudge this dessert is a hard one to beat.

Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- heat oven to 325 degrees
- beat the eggs and sugar until very pale and fluffy, about 8 minutes
- sift together the flour and cocoa powder
- add flour to the eggs and mix just until combined
- stir in the vanilla and melted butter
- pour into a greased 2 qt. baking dish
- prepare a water bath – place baking dish with the brownies into a larger dish, add water into the larger baking dish until it comes halfway up the sides
- bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour
- allow to cool slightly before serving
enjoy!

Joan left behind three teenage children, so PLEASE visit Chocolate, Chocolate, and More, pin her recipes, share them on Facebook, tweet them , Instagram them, Stumble them too. Every little bit will help to support her family in this very difficult time.

I’m so grateful to have met you Heather! You’ve been such a sweet blog friend over the past few years, and I feel so lucky to have spent time with you at our various blogger get-togethers and the retreat in Carmel. You’re so sweet to post one of Joan’s recipes, and your photos are stunning!! That last one with the bite on the fork… It makes me want to reach through the screen and eat that bite!
thank you SO much Amy! our little group means so much to me ?
Am so incredibly touched and impressed with the love all the foodie bloggers have for Joan Hayes. Am a blog following baby. Since only discovered this awesome online family of people, this past March. Seems nearly all of the close to 200 blogs I subscribe to,are of like minds in the feelings of loss with her passing. I do not have facebook, instagram or any of those social connections, but will say thanks here to Joan. She was one of the first blogs I was blessed to discover. The name of her blog was what initially attracted me. Then looked forward to what decedent yummies she came up with. Her smile was a joy to see every time I opened my email and got another from her. Praying comfort, peace, and love to all who are hurting. Made and will be eating chocolate for you, Joan.
Teri, that would mean SO much to Joan. I’m sure she’s eating chocolate today too

I was very lucky to meet Joan early on in my blogging career. I was even more lucky that she took me under her wing. She was so giving and loved to help others. She was never competitive or dismisses of anyone. I will miss my Fairy Blogmother and am so sad that I will never see her again. I love the tribute you all have done for her.
she really was a fairy blog mother – what a great way to put it. She was SO helpful and giving in sharing what worked for her and what didn’t.
